Oh Wonderful Myanmar
Well, I've just returned home from Myanmar not too long ago, therefore I'd like to share some of my experiences there. I'll try to cut this short, so bear with me!
Day1: Met in the airport with fellow church mates at 12 and we had to check in luggages and all. Had lunch in airport McDonalds and had a McSpicy EVM. Walked around, had a group prayer and took some pictures before heading for the plane. Had a meal in the plane and watched 'Just For Gags' in the plane. Funny but no sound. Arrived in Myanmar and it looked great, and we had quite a long bus travel to the hotel. Checked in, settled down and had a 'night tutorial walk' nearby the hotel. Had dinner in a Chinese restaurant nearby, the food is not bad. Went back to the hotel and rested for the night.
Day2: Breakfast in the Hotel. It was bad. The toaster was slow and crappy. Went to 'Kids Live' orphanage. Was warmly greeted by the people. The children(big or small) were so enthusiastic and responsive. Love the people there, great hosts and kind people. Judging by prayer session, they are very spiritual too! So touched to have seen the first batch of appreciative kids since it was my first trip. Had dinner in 'Million Coins' eatery. Quite comfortable, air-conditioned. The food was quite good, 'Spider' is a great drink! As usual, we play cards almost every night. And a routine mp3 and prayer session before bedtime. It happens everynight, so I'm not mentioning it again.
Day3: No time for breakfast. No big loss for me. Headed to 'Olive Garden' orphanage. The people there are so warm too! Super enthusiastic kids and they cheered loudly went I said 'I love playing soccer'. The kids there are as awesome as the previous ones. Had a prophecy session with the director's wife if I'm not wrong. Felt so powerful, I'm told to become a leader. My left hand is protected by angels, no wonder I am left handed. =) And I must jump 7 times and say 'Hallelujah' each time I jump to thank and praise God. Had a great big lunch there, so much food. Juggled the soccer ball with the children with Jasper and the children. Our driver joined in too, the people there are not to be messed with, quite good control. Went back to the city and did little shopping. FMI is a shopping centre selling stuff of slightly higher prices. Saw a small kid painting nearby FMI, he painted so well! Super impressed, he took less than 10 mins to complete on big painting. Dinner at Pizza Corner, the pizzas there are delicious. Turned in for the night.
Day4: Did my 'Hallelujah jumps' as what I was told, faithful guy eh? Haha... It is part of my routine now. Breakfast as usual. Headed to the orphanage called 'Zion'. Small building, flooring not very stable, like a typical 'Kampong' house. Bought little ducklings for them. Played soccer with the children along with Mark, Jasper and Zeph after the fellowship session with them. The field was totally unmanagable, so uneven! Could not get proper touches on the ball, the ball bounced anyhow. We were leading but lost in the end. My shades that I bought there broke. Went for shopping and bought another pair of shades. Ate at 'First Choice' restaurant. Singapore food! Yummy! And we went for foot message. Much laughter in the room, especially Jasper! Haha, so fun. End of the day. Did not play cards only on this day, too tired! But mp3 as always =)
Day5: Did all my routines. Headed for the orphanage called 'Grace..' The compund is so huge! They are very rich for an orphanage. Even got a huge soccer compound. Settled there with craft. Played soccer, they got small goalpost somemore. The goalpost is smaller than some street soccer courts, quite a challenge. Singapore vs Myanmar, but our side not so pure because we had a small Myanmese boy, 'Tatosei'(not sure how to spell), as our last man. Scored the second goal and was my first in Myanmar! We drew 3 - 3. Saw a small girl, 'Varvan'(not sure how to spell), balancing on the beam so well. One kid taught me on spinning the top but I just suck at it. Had a great fellowship session after many of them return from exams. Had a surprise Birthday Cake for Aunty Mary, our beloved Youth Pastor! She was so touched. Had a great prayer session, the kids need to grow much more spiritually though. Headed to pray for a woman suffering from liver cancer. The family depends on her.=( Hope she gets well! They sure have very huge pigs there. :O Dinner at 'Signature' restaurant. Fine dinning indeed, such a posh restaurant with good food. Our dressing inappropriate though. The costs were priced in US$. Routine in the night and oh yeah, we have our fellowship session every night too. Evaluation, prayer and songs to God.
Day6: Final day of visiting the orphans. Very small place. The inside quite comfy and not cramp at all. Very hot day though, so lethargic. The kids there were all small. Had a short day with them there fellowshiping and fun. Went to MCP office and our cool translator, Brandon, gave us a free tour. Cool place, nice people. Ate Nasi Briyani for lunch, the chicken is too small though. Still, it is quite nice. Shop at FMI, bought a T-Shirt. We walked around most parts of FMI. Went out and saw the painter again! This time I was determined to buy his paintings. He was fabulous, bought 4 from him and was so cheap! Headed for the Hotel and had to part with Brandon, our cool translator. Parted with Rossie, our other translator and our great driver long before =( So sad... Dinner at Pizza Corner again! Full body massage... The lady boss there is friendly and nice. Played cards, Signal and Taidi until the person from next door complained and scolded us. Turned in for the routine night after feeling tired.
Day7: Routine morning. Showered, packed and checked out. Headed for the airport. Rather sad to leave. But I missed Singapore too. Mixed feelings. I'll still bring back the treasured moments with me. Lunch in the plane. Had 'Mutton With Mash Potatoes' and 7-up+Tiger beer for drinks. Had 2 cups of that. The 2nd one less beer. Watched a little of 'Just For Gags' again. So funny. And back to Singapore!
Hope you did not feel sleepy on reading this, really too much to post, could post more actually. Thanks for your patience! Will post the pictures rather soon! x)
