Half time Arsenal vs Liverpool, score 1-1. Great goal by Van Persie. Robbie Keane had a great finish too, with Djourou sleeping in defence just now. Back to my day now. I woke up in the morning at 8:15 with my alarm clock ringing. Lazed on the chair awhile and got ready for church. Ate breakfast nearby church, 'ba chor mee'.=) Went for combined service(youth+adult), sat beside Mum. Went to Grandmother's house after Church. Got to go online on Uncle's laptop awhile. Went to Tanjong Pagar with Sis to meet Daryl and Uncle Patrick to watch Singapore vs Vietnam in the National Stadium. As the National Anthem were being played, many fans were silent and hostile towards the Vietnam's National Anthem and got so passionate with Singapore's National Anthem. Singing out so loudly, it looks united, but there are definitely 'black sheeps' who chose not to participate. As we settled down, Daryl took out a bag of Ruffles sour cream with onion potato chips and we opened it. As I munched on the chips with fans cheering and jeering, watching men on a big and green soccer field, kicking the ball around. To soccer fans, it is some thrill. Singapore dominating possession, playing much better then their previous match. It took many minutes for Lionel Lewis to take his first goal kick, that's how pathetic Vietnam is. Fans sweared whenever Vietnam gone down 'injured', or whenever they get things their way. Of course, you cannot miss a Singapore match without the 'Kallang Wave'. So many chances for Singapore, especially when Shi Jiayi hit the post... Unlucky. They can't find the finishing touch. Suddenly after Ismail Yunos got in as a substitute for captain Noh Rahman, Vietnam got a break through the right and Ismail Yunos got beaten softly and Vietnam got a goal out of nowhere. They celebrate like crazy, Vietnam fans and staff went wild. Singapore in despair. Finally when the refree blew the whistle, Vietnam celebrated for holding on their second half lead. Many Singaporean fans left before the final whistle blew. As usual, swearing and cursing. So uncouth, no wonder God blessed Vietnam with the win. Of course I walked off disappointed, thinking that I had an answer on why my eyes twitched earlier on in the day. Even my Mum said Vietnam did not deserve the win. Now I'm so worried for Arsenal, Fabregas injured during first half and could not continue, Adebayor got a red card which he did not deserve... So tensed. Will update later on...
*updated(2:30AM): The match ended in a 1-1 draw still. If got Adebayor sure win, what poor refreeing... I seriously think Howard Webb needs to look at his decisions again. Cheap draw for Liverpool although Arsenal did survive some scares. Arsenal could even threaten Liverpool with 10 men, wow. I see a great determination and hunger in Arsenal today, hopefully it will go on for the other games. Come on Arsenal you can do it! Here are some pictures from the stadium, sorry if they are not well taken, I sat high on top.
Well, it's ok Lions. We can come back again. Most important thing is to qualify for World Cup first(which is a real tough situation for Singapore). Play better the next time, show some good spirit! And fans, please do not swear around anymore and tarnish the reputation of Singapore. It's so uncouth and uncivilised...
